Sui Northern Company has borne around 25billion cubic feet gas transmission losses during the current fiscal year.
Company sources said that Rs7.30 billion loss has been incurred in gas sale owing to the transmission losses, which resulted into the Rs270million loss to the company.
They added that the company bore millions of rupees loss despite 18percent rise in gas tariff.The said company has asked OGRA to raise the gas tariff by 20.36 paisas per million cubic feet from July 1st.
Save Judiciary Committee's media adviser Imtiaz Rashid Qureshi filed the petition in which Malik, the federation through the Interior Ministry secretary, the principal secretary to President Asif Ali Zardari and the chairman of NAB Islamabad have been named respondents.
The petitioner's lawyer Barrister Farooq Hassan submitted that the remission of Malik's sentence by the president under Article 45 was illegal, saying such a pardon was legal if an accused had exhausted all legal remedies.
The court ordered the Attorney General of Pakistan to present the notification issued by the presidency on May 28, the date set for hearing the petition.
Hassan had said in his petition that if someone was convicted by a court, he had the right to file an appeal against the sentence in the Supreme Court (SC), and if the petition was not heard by the apex court or the decision was upheld, he could file a mercy appeal with the president. The lawyer said the minister had not approached the Supreme Court in this connection, adding that there was no justification for the remission as Malik had not filed any mercy petition and the purported pardon was against the due process of law.
In his opening remarks at the meeting of Ministerial Meeting of Friends of Democratic Pakistan held at Foreign Office the Foreign Minister said, "Today we are having to divert significant resources from our development programme towards fighting the militancy and in the immediate term we need budgetary support so that our poverty alleviation and development programmes continue uninterruptedly."
The meeting was also being attended by Special Representative of U.S. President Obama for Pakistan and Afghanistan Ambassador Richard Holbrooke, representatives from the members of the FODP, World Bank and other international financial organizations.
Foreign Minister Qureshi in his opening remarks further said the third FODP Ministerial meeting will be held in Brussels on 15 October this year.
This forum, he said, is usefully serving to identify and discuss priority areas for FODP partners to engage bilaterally or multilaterally through the World Bank Multi-Donor Trust Fund for Pakistan.
Qureshi said Pakistan has suffered and continues to suffer enormously by terrorism and since 9/11 there have been 247 suicide attacks in Pakistan killing over 3000 civilians and injuring over 7000.
He said the evil forces of terrorism have not even spared mosques, other religious places and the shrine of a Sufi saint in Lahore. "We have lost over 2550 security personnel in our ongoing law enforcement operations," said the foreign minister.
He said, "Our cumulative economic losses are also substantial and according to conservative estimates, Pakistan has lost $43 billion in the last nine years and our exports and foreign investments have been badly hurt."
The Minister said Pakistan had to look after 2.5 million dislocated population from Malakand Division following the law enforcement operation there last year, and facilitated their return to their homes within a few months that speaks volumes of people's and institutions' inherent strengths.

Addressing a news conference at the Pakistan High Commission on Saturday afternoon on his arrival from Islamabad, Kaira ruled out the cancellation of the president's visit which, he said, was a scheduled one during which he would discuss the bilateral relations with Cameron and the British leadership. He said this was President Zardari's first visit to the UK since the new coalition government came into power there following the May 6 parliamentary polls. He said the president would also address the Pakistani community in Birmingham on August 7. The minister mentioned Pakistan's tremendous sacrifices in the war against terrorism and said the armed forces had lost 2,700 officers and Jawans in the conflict, which is much higher than the total casualties suffered by the Nato forces in Afghanistan. Responding to a question, the minister said the international relations were not helped by boycotting inter-state relations rather visits by heads of the state assist in removing misperceptions and obstacles. "When President Zardari meets the British prime minister at his country residence in Chequers, he will have an in-depth discussion on the issues facing Pakistan and Britain." The minister added that Pakistan and Britain enjoyed good relations and the UK had been assisting his country in various socio-economic sectors and the two countries also enjoyed good defence relations. Referring to the cancellation of the visit to Britain by an operational group of Pakistan intelligence agency, he said owing to the commitment of the members back home, the visit had been called off. He also clarified that the group was not headed by the director general of the ISI. He defended the role of Pakistan intelligence agencies and said like all other such organisations, they were playing a crucial role in the national interest. Referring to the objections raised by certain political parties in Pakistan on the president's visit to the UK in the light of British prime minister's remarks as well as extensive flooding in the country, the minister said the president was representing the people of Pakistan and he would convey the sentiments of his people to Mr Cameron. He said under the directives of the president and the prime minister, the relief agencies, including the armed forces, were providing relief and succour to the affected people.
PM Gilani urged that government will not leave the flood victims behind and will take all actions within its capacity to help the flood victims.

Sources said that a powerful blast ripped through a rally at Meezan Chowk, which was ensued by firing which is said to be continued. People started running in helter-skelter in wake of the blast. The injured include representatives of different media outlets who were there covering the rally. Law enforcement agencies cordon off the area while rescue teams started shifting the injured to nearby hospitals. Emergency has been declared in the hospitals. The rally, organized by Imamia Student Organisation (ISO), comprised around 2,500 people.
