KARACHI: At least nine people have been killed while more than a dozen others sustained injuries as violence incidents continued in various parts of the city on Saturday. As per details, several firing incidents were reported during the last 24 hours in different areas of Karachi including Liaqatabad, Orangi Town, Qasba Colony and Muslim Colony, killing nine persons. The recent wave of killing started last night from Qasba Colony, where two persons died including a MQM's office bearer when unidentified gunmen opened indiscriminate fire and managed to flee from the scene.
After the incident, some unknown men started firing in the area, resultantly eight people were injured.
The violence continued on Saturday as six other people were gunned down and seven others sustained bullet injuries when some armed men sprayed them with bullets in Orangi Town, Manghopir and Sultanabadand areas.
On the other hand, unidentified attackers killed a youth in Sharifabad area.
The situation in the affected areas remained tense and fear gripped up the locality. Meanwhile, a bus was set on fire by unknown persons.
Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah, while taking serious notice of the incidents, directed the CCPO Karachi to submit the report. The CM also ordered to arrest the culprits.
Talking to Geo News, IG Sindh Babar Khatak said law enforcers were ready to coup with any untoward incident. Heavy contingents of the police have been deployed in the affected areas while Rangers could be called for assistance.
The IG Sindh rejected any political influence over the recent bloodshed in the metropolis.
