Federal Minister for Education Sardar Asif Ali said that Higher Education Commission (HEC) has no authority to conduct verification of parliamentarians’ degrees itself.
Talking to newsmen the minister said that HEC initiated degrees verification process by negating role No 16, adding that the commission has no authority to pursue degrees confirmation process itself. He also pointed, if HEC chairman Dr Javed Leghari aimed to become hero by doing such stunts and wants to gain popularity through media then he should first resign from his office and fulfill his dreams, but he doesn’t need to violate rules and regulations of HEC.
Federal minister also said, Chairman parliament’s standing committee on education Abid Sher Ali has been interfering unduly in the affairs of governmental institutions, adding, if he also had dreams to become popular through such measures, he should also resign from his office. Meanwhile, talking to Dunya News, Chairman Standing Committee on Education Abdi Sher Ali alleged that Federal Education Minister Sardar Asif Ali is trying to hijack the HEC, and added that such a controversial should be kept at bay.
Abid said that the education minister should not malign the efforts of the committee regarding the fake degrees.
