Landslide Kills Six in Shangla; rains continue

SWAT: At least six people were killed in Shangla area of Bazaarkot, as a rains-triggered landslide dumped on their house; also, the spell of rain in most parts of the country is in progress amid snowfall on mountains, Geo News reported Monday.


Heavy downpours and snowfall for last three days in Muzafarabad and its adjacent areas caused to cut off land links with several upper areas.


Sharah-e-Neelam is closed down thanks to landsliding. The rain and snowfall is still in progress intermittently in Skardu and the upper areas for the fourth day today. Land links to the city are cut off.


The Gilgit-Skardu road is closed for traffic owing to landsliding in Tehsil Rondo. The traffic has been blocked on several links roads due to snowfall on mountains in Mansehra and Kohistan.


The daily routine affairs are severely affected in various districts of Gilgit-Baltistan including Diamer, Astore and Ghazar.





The people found themselves forced to quit their houses in view of flash floods unleashed by heavy downpours in Bangladesh area of Mingora in Swat.


At least six people lost their lives when their house was swept away by landslide triggered by rains in Shangla. Their bodies have been taken to hospital.


The mountains in Parachinar, Kurram Agency and Khyber Agency are all covered with snow.


The most cities of Northern Balochistan including Chaman are receiving stormy downpours. Also, the Kozak Top received heavy snowfall, which caused Quetta-Chaman road to be closed for traffic. The Nato supply also discontinued with dozens of vehicles trapped on the road.


Large swathes of land were deluged in Balidan, as River Kaitch rages near Balochistan's district Turbat. Also, the traffic has been held up by floods on Coastal Highway.


Punjab cities including Faisalabad and Sargodha are receiving heavy showers; while, other cities including Jhang, Bahawalpur, Toba Tek Singh and Khushab are witnessing intermittent downpours.


Sindh areas including Jackobabad, Nawabshah, Khairpur, Mirpur Khas, Badin, Thatta, and the adjacent areas are receiving showers sporadically.
