SC orders NAB to reopen Swiss cases in fortnight; seeks report

NAB has filed a report in the Supreme Court regarding implementation of court orders, Dunya News reported today.
The court has ordered NAB Chairman Naveed Ahsan to submit report in this regard, however, the latter has went on leave a day ago. Today, Acting Chairman NAB filed the report in the court.
It is written in the report that NAB wrote letters to Attorney General and Ministry of Law; however, the NAB is not recognized abroad and as such only government could write to the Swiss government to get the cases against President Zardari reopened.After perusal of the report, Justice Javed Iqbal observed that NAB and government have been engaged in mailing to each other and added that the game of hide and seek should be stopped forthwith.
He said the court should be informed in black and white if anyone is exempted from the case. Justice Javed observed that under Article 190 of the Constitution, its obligatory for the government to implement the Supreme Court. He added that the court has learnt from media that the Swiss record has been sought.
He observed that Supreme Court is authorized to interpret the Constitution, adding that government has to implement the courts rulings.   The court gave a time period of a fortnight to get the Swiss cases reopened and Submit report in this regard.
