ISLAMABAD: The Council of Common Interests (CCI), the top decision-making body of the federation, is meeting Sunday (today) to resolve inter-provincial disputes regarding water-sharing, tax on services and the approval of Bhasha Dam to meet World Bank's conditions for financing, official sources here said.
Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani will chair the CCI meeting, which will take up an eight-point agenda.
Being members of the CCI, all four chief ministers and the special representatives from the four provinces – Naveed Qamar (Sindh), Yousaf Raza Gilani (Punjab), Humayun Aziz Kurd (Balochistan) and Arbab Alamgir (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) – will attend the meeting.
The sources said the CCI would deliberate on the dispute between the federal government and Sindh on the levy of tax on services, the recent dispute over water sharing from Chashma-Jhelum Link Canal, the determination of jurisdiction of fishermen of Sindh and Balochistan and Balochistan's demand for the release of over Rs 100 billion in arrears against gas development surcharge.
