As many as 12 people were killed while 18 others were injured in the most recent spate of target killings in the Karachi. The targeted killings in the city continue despite a ban on pillion riding, display of weapons and the grant of extra powers to Pakistan Rangers to maintain peace in the country's financial hub. Police have booked Awami National Party (ANP) workers for killing a Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) activist in an attack on the party's office in Gulistan-e-Johar. A case was also registered against unidentified miscreants responsible for damaging public property.
Tensions and panic continue to grip the metropolis. Five people killed on Friday night including Taj Rabbani, Waseem, Abdul Malik, Raju, Badshah Khan and Yasir Khan were gunned down by firing of unidentified persons. The total number of victims in target killings in the metropolis crossed 40 in a five-day span.
