Pakistan News: Despite the pressure to call off the UK trip in protest against David Cameron's anti-Pakistan statements, President Asif Ali Zardari went on a week-long trip to France and UK.
Asif Ali Zardari is scheduled to meet with his French counterpart President Sarkozy today while tomorrow he would call on French foreign minister.
The President would go to London after two days. President Zardari is carrying out a foreign visit when there is severe criticism in the country on Cameron's statements in which he alleged Pakistan of 'exporting terrorism.' While Pakistan's political leadership analysts had also urged Zardari to call off his UK trip, a demand which was not heeded by those at the helm triggering a vociferous reaction at home.
The meeting between the two heads is scheduled for the 6th of August and is expected to be a bit tense in the wake of the remarks.
It merits to mention that British Prime Minister David Cameron has categorically stated that he would not retract on comments he made regarding Pakistan being guilty of exporting terrorism during his visit to India last week.
Cameron has asserted that he is in no way apologetic about what he said and that the comments though not aimed at the Pakistani government were very relevant to the country as a whole.
Cameron who earlier this week had commented that Pakistan cannot 'look both ways', with receiving aid from Western nations amounting to billions of dollars on one hand and at the same time encouraging and exporting terror into countries like India and Afghanistan, later added that he felt it was important that issues like these were spoken of frankly especially amongst countries who considered each other as friends.
