The Communist Party filed a petition against the immunity enjoyed by the president under Article 248 of the constitution on Wednesday.
The petitioner requested the apex court to interpret the Article in its true spirit, adding that the president do not enjoy immunity in the corruption cases whether in abroad or in the country. The plea also added that the indemnity the head of the state has in the criminal cases is also conditioned.
The court has been asked to order the accountability courts to start proceeding against Zardari in corruption references.
