A Pakistani has been illegally detained in an England's jail for the last 43 months. As per reports, the UK government tried to deport Asif, who has been illegally kept in a local jail, after the Pakistani lawyers took up the matter.
However, the High Court intercepted the flight destined for Islamabad and stopped him.
Asif's sister Azra Akbar said that he went to the UK in 2001, and was fighting for political refuge; in 2006 he was jailed for 84 days for a minor theft case. She said that despite the approval from the immigration officer, he is still not freed. Asif, while talking to Dunya News, called upon the government to get him freed forthwith.
