NAB Terms CJP¡¯s Restoration As Illegitimate

NAB Terms CJP's Restoration as illegitimateOn the refusal of Advocate-on-record Chaudhry Akhtar Ali, Irfan Qadir   himself presented the reply to the Chief Justice. Irfan Qadir said  that  Supreme Court has no authority to interfere in the matters of NAB  and  remarks of the CJP and Justice Ramday is similar to interference in  the  matters of the Administration.

NAB acting chairman and prosecutor  general prepared written reply  for the Supreme Court in Bank of Punjab  loan scam case but  Advocate-on-record Chaudhry Akhtar Ali rejected to  present them in the  court.  On his refusal, Irfan Qadir himself  presented the reply to the  Chief Justice.

Chief Justice directed them to submit the reply in the office and   complete the court's proceeding. It is said in the reply that no court   has authority to interfere in NAB's investigations. In its reply   addressed to the CJP, NAB has also questioned the CJ's restoration in   March last year through an executive order of Prime Minister Yousuf Raza   Gilani by stating, "Neither order is countenanced by the constitution   nor the same has any other legitimate basis".

It is also requested  in the reply that petitions against NAB acting  chairman and prosecutor  general should be rejected as the Federation  has authority to appoint  them. And Advocate General Punjab cannot  interfere in matters of the  Federation. Javed Qazi said that Khawaja  Haris wanted to interfere in  NAB for political interests.
