Supreme Court's 17 member bench will resume the hearing of petitions challenging various clauses of the 18th Constitutional Amendment today; where as the same bench will also take up the review petitions filed by the government and other applicants against the court's verdict in NRO case.
The count of applications for challenging the 18th amendment has reached till 21, in which majority have challenged the creation of Judicial Commission for appointment of judges under the 18th amendment. All judges of Supreme Court except Justice Zahid Hussain are present in larger bench.
A 17-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry is hearing 23 cases related to 18th Amendment. While on the other side, apart from the Federal Government, former Attorney General Malik Qayyum, Former Chairman NAB Naveed ul Hassan, former Prosecutor Gen. Dr. Danishwar Malik and former Additional Secretary Abdul Baseer Qureshi have given applications against the decision of NRO.
