Muttahida Qaumi Movement Turns Guns To ANP Leadership

MQM Turns Guns To ANP Leadership, Hours after its conciliation with Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Thursday turned its guns to Awami National Party (ANP) – its another partner in ruling coalition in Sindh and center, accusing it of patronizing drug and land mafias in Karachi. "ANP is the patron of land mafia and drug mafia operating in the city and party's provincial chief Shahi Syed has collected immense wealth and property through his patronship of these mafias and criminal elements," MQM deputy parliamentary leader in Sindh Assembly Faisal Sabzwari told a news conference. Many of the party’s MPAs were also present at the occasion.

Sabzwari accused the ANP leadership of giving recent target killing in Karachi an ethnic touch, saying many of MQM's supporters and workers were also killed in the recent violence that he blamed on land and drug mafias.

He demanded the government of making not only Karachi but the whole country arms-free, saying action first be taken in those areas where the arms are being manufactured.

He said violence in the city be stopped and peace in the metropolis be restored. He also called upon the government to take notice of the killings in the city, apprehend the culprits and ensure protection of the life and property of the people.

The MQM leader was of the view that the criminal was only a criminal, no matter to whatever cast, creed or clan he belongs.

Sabzwari said some elements are afraid of the increasing popularity of his party in the country and the same want to engage MQM by creating law and order situation in the metropolis. He told a questioner that the MQM has handed over a list of victims of violence in the city as well as the list of criminal elements to the authorities concerned.
